The journey

Beach Light-painting in Holbox

February 14, 2016 - Kim Henry

We usually travel light, which allows us to shoot in relatively remote locations. We rarely  work in easy conditions : the water, the wind, the cold, the mosquitos… Not to mention the blue hour that only last 15 minutes or so. There are many things out of our control, but we always find a way to make the most of what is presented to us.

The crocodile pond

When we went to Holbox for the second time, we were having high expectations about the weather and the visuals we would get since we had a heavenly experience the year before. When we arrived, the wind was very strong and it was cold at night, so we couldn’t shoot by the sea. We managed to find another place inside the island, a calm swamp. The second night we were shooting there, the wat...

Dubai Rooftopping

December 09, 2015 - Kim Henry

It was our last evening in Dubai and we were looking for something different from the other nights. We were hoping to do some rooftopping, since we had the chance to meet some amazing photographers who did rooftopping photography. Aiming to get to the place before sunset to be able to shoot during the bluehour, we didn't know there were 3 hotels with the same name on the same street across town....

Dubai Marina

December 03, 2015 - Kim Henry

We usually create in places where there are almost no human being. But being in such an impressive city as Dubai, we wanted to explore its impressive cityscape potential. When doing that, it’s important to be guided by people who know the city and its culture, or be ready to face bad surprises . Luckily that night we were well accompanied… Otherwise let’s just say we could have gotten in trouble...

Los Angeles, under the bridge with Darren Pearson and Jordan Rose Steinert

October 09, 2015 - Kim Henry

After a taxi run and a few calls to find cables for Eric’s camera triggers, we accepted that we would have to use a different technique than usual. We would have someone else than him triggering the camera for the shoot we were going to, with these people we only knew virtually. "Follow the railroad track, and once you see a small hole in the fence That's the easiest way to go down. We'll alrea...

Near home at Mont Tremblant with the mosquitoes

August 10, 2015 - Kim Henry

We didn't have much time there, squeezing this destination in our crazy schedule. The first night, we were on the wrong side of the lake for the sunset. The second night, we changed location but it was raining most of the day and it was very cloudy, so we couldn't see the sun at all while it was setting. That's how we accidentally met the bluehour for the second time. While Eric was amaze...

The Golden Gate Bridge

August 02, 2015 - Eric Paré

Our second night with the tubes. It was very short again, as the temperature was extremely cold.

San Francisco

August 01, 2015 - Eric Paré

Our first shooting ever with the tubes. In fact, this is the day we found the tubes. We walk about an hour in a trail north of the Golden Gate bridge with our friends Bruce Getty and Alexis Darden. We shot about half an hour in the cold and windy blue hour and that was it. And without being aware of it, it was for us the beginning of this project, Signs of Light.
